Each Tuesday Hunter highlights the best classic films airing in the coming week on TCM.
An oddball lineup this week, featuring lesser-known, but nevertheless fascinating entries in the oeuvre of Alec Guinness, Charlton Heston and Mickey Shaughnessy.
THIS WEEK’S PICKS
<strong>Tuesday, April 26</strong>
There’s a movie called Sex Kittens Go To College. Read about it. If the movie is even half as good as that description, well, it’s worth your hour and a half.
<strong>Wednesday, April 27</strong>
The Coen Brother’s The Ladykillers was actually a sequel to a far superior 1955 British version starring…wait for it…Alec Guinness. The original Ladykillers is a funny little farce that’ll remind you of a stage play.
<strong>Saturday, April 30</strong>
I’m not going to tell you what Soylent Green is, I’ll just say you probably don’t want to eat it. Even if it’s made of Edward G. Robinson. Damn, I spoiled it…well hell, the movie is 43 years old!
