Turner Classic Tuesday — February 9-15, 2016

Each Tuesday Hunter highlights the best classic films airing in the coming week on TCM.

Feeling happy and upbeat? Then how about a film about 1930s East Berlin…or a movie about divorce! Ew, there’s also The Little Rascals in a film set during the Civil War!

THIS WEEK’S PICKS

<strong>Tuesday, Feb. 9</strong>
I’ve never seen Cabaret, but it’s an essential in the canon of master choreographer Bob Fosse and it features Michael York. Won’t you join me as I give this a try?
<strong>Wednesday, February 10</strong>
If you’re like me, you were all about The Little Rascals growing up (actually Our Gang, for those in the know). However, General Spanky was a bit of a blind spot until I saw it a few years ago…and can see why. Set during the Civil War, the film features Spanky dropping almost as many n-bombs as a Quentin Tarantino flick. Ah, the innocent 1930s.
<strong>Friday, February 12</strong>
By my official tally Meryl Streep has won 2,376 Academy Awards, give or take. Kramer vs. Kramer was her first. While not quite the masterpiece that Mothra vs. Godzilla was, or Batman v. Superman will be, Kramer vs. Kramer is nonetheless a pretty touching film…even if I would’ve rather they attacked Tokyo. Can’t win ’em all.

If you catch one of Hunter’s TCT picks share your thought with us on Twitter or Facebook!
