Turner Classic Tuesday — December 15-21, 2015

Each Tuesday Hunter highlights the best classic films airing in the coming week on TCM.

A courtroom drama. A boxing flick. And a melodramatic period drama. What more could you want?

THIS WEEK’S PICKS

<strong>Wednesday, Dec. 16</strong>
Jimmy Stewart vs. George C. Scott in a courtroom drama directed by Otto Preminger. It’s Anatomy of a Murder and you need to watch it. Right now. Go.
<strong>Saturday, Dec. 19</strong>
Directed by King Vidor and starring former Little Rascal Jackie Cooper, I dare you to watch The Champ without crying.
<strong>Sunday, Dec. 20</strong>
One of John Ford’s four Best Director Oscars was for How Green Was My Valley and he absolutely did not deserve it. Not because the movie is bad (it manages to be touching with a story that in lesser hands would be manipulative and schmaltzy), but because of it’s competition that year – Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane
