THE REASON
With a runtime clocking in at just seventeen minutes World of Tomorrow is a essential viewing that you really have no excuse to skip. I’ve recommended the work of Don Hertzfeldt on the podcast in the past. He combines a squiggly, minimalist animation style with immersive sound design to tell melancholy and delightfully humorous stories about loneliness and human existence. I know, it sounds a little dark. But Hertzfeldt’s keen sense of humor prevents his work from ever feeling miserable. It’s wry and immensely quotable. Throw World of Tomorrow at the top of your queue and then when you embark on your 45 minute odyssey of indecision when you sit down to watch something on Netflix this weekend take a quick break in your scrolling schedule to watch this incredible Oscar-nominated short.
World of Tomorrow is available now on Netflix. If you need more Don Hertzfeldt when you finish check out his short, Rejected, on YouTube or Such a Beautiful Day on Netflix.
