Turner Classic Tuesday — January 26-February 1, 2016

Each Tuesday Hunter highlights the best classic films airing in the coming week on TCM.

Two extremely different perspectives on the Vietnam War, plus a forgotten John Huston film that could be a diamond in the rough or fool’s gold.

THIS WEEK’S PICKS

Wednesday, January 27
Reflections In A Golden Eye was directed by John Huston, and stars Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando…never seen it, but color me intrigued.
Friday, January 29
The Green Berets is a strange, strange movie, but should be seen for its cultural significance. John Wayne stars and directs what may be the only mainstream, pro-war Vietnam movie. What makes it even more peculiar is it came out in 1968, when public sentiment was already turning against our adventures in Indochina. Even if you’re offended by the politics, the title song is pretty sweet.
Friday, January 29
And on the complete opposite of the political and cultural spectrum – The Deer Hunter came out 10 years later and go on to win Oscars for Best Picture, Director for Michael Cimino, and Supporting Actor for Christopher Walken.

If you catch one of Hunter’s TCT picks share your thought with us on Twitter or Facebook!
