THE PLOT (via Letterboxd)
Alex, Emily, and their son, RJ, are new to Los Angeles. A chance meeting at the park introduces them to the mysterious Kurt, Charlotte, and Max. A family “playdate” becomes increasingly interesting as the night goes on.
THE REASON
Trigger Warning: Man-merkins & Pasolini-level penile prosthetic ahead!
The Overnight is Patrick Brice’s slightly less lo-fi follow-up to Creep, a funny little horror film I absolutely adored last year. It’s a funny and bizarre little film with a sweet hearted 60s counterculture sensibility.
If you’re prone to chuckling at Schwartzman & Scott, don’t take issue with absurd fake male nudity, and are curious what it might look like if Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings looked more like butt holes, this just might be a comedy for you.
Watch it now on Netflix.
