THE PLOT (via Letterboxd)

Dangerous Men has many characters like Mina whose life is shattered when two bikers with rape on their minds attack and kill Daniel, her fiancé. Driven by grief, she embarks on a killing rampage, wreaking vengeance upon all the men that she seductively lures into her trap. In her twisted world, cops and killers are all the same – David, Daniel’s brother, is a cop who relentlessly pursues the killers, while facing a nest of drug dealers, followed by the FBI and the police SWAT team, also in hot pursuit. Mina, a victim of violence, carrying a twisted obsession for justice, is caught between opposing forces in a world of dangerous men.

THE REASON

WE DID IT! We lived to see the home video release of John S. Rad’s (ernest attempt at a) magnum opus, Dangerous Men!! Okay, maybe i’m one of the very few who’s spent the past ten years dreaming of this moment, but words cannot express the sustained excitement I’ve experienced since Drafthouse Films announced the re-release of the film that was so spectacular that I thanked its director in every student film I made in college.

Over the past few months I’ve said plenty of time gabbing about this incredibly endearing piece of outsider cinema. If you’re still not convinced that it will be one of the the greatest communal movie experiences of your life, then there’s only one thing I can possibly think of that might bring you around on it. The soundtrack!

On the podcast I played the bizarre song Rad wrote (and sang) to promote the film on the film’s original website. However I didn’t play any of the original compositions that fill the film’s omnipresent soundtrack. Luckily Drafthouse was kind enough to do the entire world a favor and shared three of these immaculate funky tunes. Have a listen:

If you’re not even the least bit morbidly curious after hearing those I don’t think we can be friends. Come on!  You know you want to see this movie! Grab some beers, invite some friends over, and bask in the hour and nineteen minute achievement that is Dangerous Men!

Dangerous Men is currently available to rent or buy on VHX, Vimeo, iTunes, or Vudu.
