THE REASON

Merry Happy Midnight Warriors! I hope you’re all spending time with family this weekend, but just in case you need a little streaming fix, I’ve got you covered.

Community is a show built around playing with the conventions of television tropes. So it should come as no surprise that the Greendale gang has has its share of Christmas specials. There are four in total, but for reason we don’t talk about I would recommend you only watch the first three.

The Christmas special in season one actually functions as a pretty good entry point for newcomers and includes a guest appearance by Anthony Michael Hall and his sweet ‘stache.

The show really began to branch out into more eccentric places in season two, and its Christmas special is no exception. Shot entirely stop motion animation, it harkens back to the old school Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer specials.

By the time Community hit season three there were a  ton of inside baseball jokes and plots, but even if aren’t a seasoned viewer this Christmas special has a ton of great original music numbers (like the one above) that are sure to please anyone who enjoys Community’s meta sensibility.

Watch these three episodes – or all four NBC seasons involving Dan Harmon (you can totally skip season four) – on Hulu.
